← The Atlas Map Editor

Catalogue a map

This page builds the maps.json file the atlas reads. It cannot save anything by itself — a static site has nowhere to save to. You fill in the details here, copy the result, and commit it alongside your image files.

The routine for adding a map

  1. Put the image in your repository under atlas/maps/ — for example atlas/maps/regions/thornmarch.jpg.
  2. Come back here, click Load current catalogue, then Add map and fill in the details.
  3. Click Copy JSON and paste it over atlas/maps.json in the repository.
  4. Commit. Porkbun republishes the site within a minute or two.
On GM-only maps: ticking that box hides a map from the atlas listing, but the image file still sits at a public URL. Anyone who guesses or is given the path can open it. Treat it as a screen you can lift, not a lock.

Map details

Relative to the atlas folder, no leading slash. Map files live in atlas/maps/, so a file committed at atlas/maps/regions/thornmarch.jpg is written here as maps/regions/thornmarch.jpg.

GM only — hide from the party until revealed

Must be unique. Used in links, so keep it lowercase with hyphens.
